You may further develop these characters any way you like; just stick to the usual guidelines.

'Enemies' are people that a character doesn't get along with, not the people that they're actually fighting against -- that would be the government.

Personality Traits: Kind, headstrong, stubborn, reckless and bossy.
Best Friends: Blaise and Josie

Best Friends: Benjamin and Nora
Enemies: Maia and Jasper
Model: Hanne Gaby Odiele (circa 2007)

⇒ Fallon, 17.

Personality Traits: Intelligent, kindhearted, sarcastic, always skeptical and a know-it-all.
Best Friends: Jasper, Maia and Helena
Enemies: Maximilian and Nora
Model: Magdalena Jasek

⇒ Rowena, 18.

Best Friends: Maia, Josie and Pierre
Enemies: Leona, Alys and Katherine
Model: Nastya Kusakina

Best Friends: Nora and Fallon
Enemy: Jasper
Model: Kelly Gale

⇒ Nora, 16.
Codename: Teo; short for TEOTWAWKI, 'the end of the world as we know it'. She's always preparing for the equivalent of an apocalypse no matter what situation the Surgent happens to be in, which is both a merit and a fault.

Enemies: Fallon and Pierre
Model: Kiko Mizuhara

⇒ Alys, 16.

[TBI] Male Surgent Members
{ This set is even more hideous than it was before. I'll edit it later, but I need to get these bios 'published' so I don't lose them. }

You may further develop these characters any way you like; just stick to the usual guidelines.

'Enemies' are people that a character doesn't get along with, not the people that they're actually fighting against -- that would be the government.

- - - - - - - -

⇒ Blaise, 18.
Codename: Roach; a running joke around the group is that he's the only member who would survive a nuclear war since he always manages to get out of nearly every bad situation he's in.
Personality Traits: Quick-witted, smart, reckless, stubborn, and a bit arrogant.
Best Friends: Leona, Josie and Maximilian
Enemies: Katherine and Jasper
Model: Yuri Pleskun

⇒ Jun, 18.
Codename: Skiver; he's extremely skilled with knifes. If there was murder involved in the plot to bring down Barlow, he'd probably be the one carrying out the deed.
Personality Traits: Quiet, intelligent, solemn, sly, rigorous, and blunt.
Best Friends: Jasper, Katherine and Pierre
Enemies: Benjamin and Perry
Model: Shunsuke Daito

⇒ Maximilian, 18.
Codename: Hax; it's kind of obvious what he does, isn't it? No? Well, he hacks computers and manages to store all the information he gets into that complex brain of his.
Personality Traits: Optimistic, friendly, restless, meek, idealistic and has a tendency to be very oblivious.
Best Friends: Alys, Maia and Blaise
Enemies: Fallon and Pierre
Model: Caleb Trent

⇒ Jasper, 17.
Codename: Mooch; he's responsible for taking--more like stealing--important things that they'll need, from food to seemingly worthless artifacts.
Personality Traits: Cheeky, flirtatious, laid-back, meddlesome, tactless and sneaky.
Best Friends: Benjamin, Fallon and Jun
Enemies: Blaise and Helena
Model: Rory Torrens

⇒ Pierre, 17.
Codename: Cox; it stems from a nickname his 6-year-old sister gave him. Coincidentally, it can also be seen as a wordplay on 'coax', which is exactly what Pierre does on a regular basis.
Personality Traits: Cheerful, carefree, manipulative, unpredictable and hypocritical.
Best Friends: Jun and Rowena
Enemies: Josie and Nora
Model: Miles McMillan

⇒ Benjamin, 17.
Codename: Ace; he can't master anything he touches, but certainly learns most things quickly. It's the main reason why he holds himself so highly.
Personality Traits: Intelligent, cynical, sarcastic, proud and prone to jealousy.
Best Friends: Jasper and Joanna
Enemy: Jun
Model: Ethan James

⇒ Perry, 16.
Codename: Raid; he's the one who searches every 'nook and cranny' for useful details, usually very quickly at that.
Personality: Joyful, naive, softhearted, squeamish, and bright but absentminded.
Best Friends: Alys and Maia
Enemies: Jun, Josie and Leona
Model: Robbie Wadge

[TBI] characters.
⇒ They--meaning the Surgent members--will all be pre-made by me. I'm only giving them personalities described only with words. You can extend them any way you want--biographies included, obviously. When it comes to the latter, I'd like a backstory that logically sets up the character's...character. Don't make them cliches.

⇒ Models and names can't be changed.

⇒ A codename is just a name that a member of the Surgent is called during the meetings. If it's simply a shortened version of their real name, you can either give a reason why it is so or give them a codename based on their traits, backstory and role in the group. Those who have a codename already can't get theirs changed because it'll be fully explained.

⇒ People moving from one country to another is pretty rare in Renatia, but if it is explained well, you may include it in your character's extended biography. The other five countries are Lorret, Eversio, Concordia, Irren and Ursana.

⇒ The enrollment should be filled out on Polyvore; whether it's in a collection or set doesn't matter. It'll take long--or at least, it should--but hopefully, your effort will be worth it in the end.

⇒ You must give these characters flaws. Not just tiny ones, though; realistic flaws that actually effect them. If your character has OCD, that doesn't just mean he/she is a raging perfectionist; it's a mental disorder and should be treated as such. If you seriously decide to do something like describing them as having a 'perfect body' and then making their flaw a case of anorexia, I'll probably just kick you out.

⇒ When giving the required description of your character's appearance, the longest it can be is a paragraph of seven sentences. Overlong sentences aren't permitted.

⇒ When answering the last question, answer it in a way your character would, not in a way you would.

⇒ If we run out of characters, then you can make your own, but these rules still apply and it must be approved by me.

⇒ If you are playing one member of the Surgent, you must also play a normal member of the school /or/ a Surgent member that's the opposite gender of your first character.

⇒ Put some real thought into these characters. Give them layers that will make them interesting and fun to play. I recommend making a character study or filling out a questionnaire.

⇒ I don't really care how long you take to fill out the enrollment completely; just make sure you give me updates as to where you are each week and tag me when you're done. We won't be able to start until every character is picked and there are at least five characters that aren't Surgent members.

⇒ This should be obvious enough, but when you're making the bios, please explain how they got into a school for those who are thought to be rebelling against the King.

[TBI] the plot { part three }.
31 December 2210. 0800.

The Barlow Institute has officially opened its doors. What is this institute, you ask? A boarding school for those who are believed to connected to the Surgent, a group of young people that hope to finish the Reluctors' job: bringing Periculum back to normal. Since the death of Barlow, you see, the government has become extremely in favor of him (as if they already weren't); his many books are becoming required reading in schools, a statue of his liking has been planted in the middle of the capital, and the new king? Adam Barlow, the son of the man who started all of this mess. That isn't even the worst of it.

So, because the government is full of such pretentious idiots, they've decided to practically throw these kids in a jail. Force-feeding them Barlow's philosophies, according to them, will turn them around in a year or two.

Oh, if only they knew just how strong-willed these kids are.

You're probably wondering how I know all of this, and I don't blame you. I know this because I'm going to be a teacher at this new school. How do I know how important the Reluctors were, you wonder? My mother was one of them.

This may not make any sense to you, but it should. Not only in-risk children being sent here by their parents or government, but some teachers, the very people who gave out locations to our meetings for the Reluctors, are being chucked in here, too. Me included.

They're doing all they can to oppress us, as you know now.

How can we start another rebellion, but without the thousands killed in the riots following Barlow's death? Simple: we won't.

Not obviously anyway.

Instead of fighting back out in the open, we'll fight in the shadows. Helping people in need, trying to approach the government in a peaceful way, and of course, plotting to get Barlow Jr. knocked right off his throne.

But we won't try to kill him this time. We'll only try to humiliate him.

To us, blackmail is much more foolproof than cold-blooded murder.

[TBI] the plot { part two }.
10 May 2183. 1701.

Someone has just attempted to kill Barlow by a shot to the head. It only grazes his shoulder, but the action causes the suspect to be up for execution nevertheless. It also sets something off in the residents; as soon as Barlow goes down, some begin rioting, even trying to finish off the job themselves by using their own guns. Ten more are arrested, tried and executed for attempted murder of the king.

28 February 2187. 1316.

Again, Barlow has become a victim of attempted murder, this time via an extremely potent poison. He was said to have been moments away from drinking the deadly cup of wine, but a servant tasted it for him and died instead. Through witness reports, authorities have identified the suspects as college student Ryan Carlisle, who was last seen with his close friend Naoki Matsushima, a woman who is known for her rather rebellious personality.

17 December 2187. 1500.

Both Carlisle and Matsushima deny being involved in these activities and, much to the government's dismay, the evidence doesn't say otherwise. They are cleared of all charges. A photo of them walking out of the courtroom hand-in-hand, their heads held high with both wearing stoic expressions, is being circulated through the many underground groups trying to fight against the king. It is slowly becoming a symbol of two things: to the government, everything that is wrong with Periculum; to the rest of the citizens, hope.

28 March 2188. 1707.

Now marks the beginning of the rebel group called the Reluctors, led by Naoki and Ryan, that is set on removing Barlow from power. They will have weekly meetings discussing plans and potential allies. The government markets the group as the Red Army, believing them to be evil in every way, but the now-famous photo of the group leaders is posted on many walls across the country, inspiring bravery in Perculians who were always too afraid to defy their king.

9 July 2196. 2343.

Another poison has nearly finished being developed, one that is simple that the Reluctors can't believe it took them this long to come up with the idea. Instead of immediately taking effect, this poison will kill its victim very slowly, shutting down their vital organs one by one. How quickly they die, though, depends on how strong those organs are. According to a TV special that gave viewers a tour of Barlow's mansion, every single one of his food tasters are young and extremely healthy, so the first person who gets a lethal dose will die in approximately 96 hours. Barlow, on the other hand, is a plump man who's never seen without a pipe of nigrum in his hand; he will definitely die before the taster does. The plan is not exactly foolproof, but in Ryan's opinion, there's nothing wrong with trying.

19 June 2199. 1707.

Barlow has died a sudden death. His followers are mourning, but more than half of the country--along with most of Renatia--are hoping that his death, no matter what the cause, will mark the beginning of a new era. Only those close to members of the Reluctors--along with the members themselves--have all the information on the murder and how it was plotted. Though they are relieved that the king has been removed from his throne, some believe that the Reluctors went too far in deciding to kill him instead of simply writing him letters on things he could improve on or simply requesting a meeting. Some think that the group did the right thing, ridding Periculum of a curse that lasted for twenty years. These disagreements are becoming violent, resulting in even more deaths. Ryan and Naoki have escaped the country and are now considered fugitives.

What /does/ the future hold for these two rebels?

Some of the people who wondered don't live to find out, for the Reluctors in alliance with them are arrested during the outbreak of riots and later tortured for information, most of them dying.

[TBI] the plot { part one }.

[TBI] the plot { part one }.
I can't even come up with a real name for this, so for now it's going by TBI.

Also, I divided this into parts because I didn't want to clog a collection up with this.

- - - - - - - -

30 July 2030. 0856.

The world has just been left in ruins after the continents were half-destroyed by extremely strong storms. More than a fourth of the population is dead by disease and starvation. Those who remain try to live as well as they can with minimal food and little clean water.

10 March 2051. 1200.

Unbeknownst to those in other countries, the living people in Europe and Asia have all joined together to try and rebuild the massive continental landmass known as Eurasia. Today, some of the survivors are able to find pieces of technology, buildings, food and other supplies that remained unharmed. The geniuses of the group take notes on these discoveries--alon so that they can leave something informational behind if they die due to the cold.

28 September 2060. 1300.

Some of the living residents of Africa--the country was affected the 'least'--North America, South America and Australia have been rescued at this point. Eurasia--now called Renati--is becoming somewhat lively again; many children are being born and food and water are a little easier to find. A 'president' has been elected: Jacob Blythe, a man who was only a child when the world 'ended'.

31 December 2160. 0135.

Renati has officially been a continent for fifty years now, divided into six countries. Samuel Blythe, the grandson of Jacob, is the head of the new monarchy in one of the six, Periculum, with his wife Amelia being his queen. He is strict, but kindhearted with a quirky way of doing things outside of office. The citizens put him on a high pedestal, his public addresses getting high television ratings and bringing large crowds each month.

15 March 2175. 1542.

The king has just stepped down from his throne, stating that he has resigned and is leaving the position to Alan Barlow. Only a small number of the citizens know who he is, but the rest accept this man with open arms.

7 April 2179. 1645.

It has become evident King Barlow is everything that the now-late Samuel Blythe wasn't. Using fear instead of wisdom and responsibility to keep his citizens in check, he makes selfish rules that take money away from the lower class and very often shows disrespect toward the other Renatian countries. Known for their cruel acts of violence and brutality, his followers worship him like a god. Barlow sees freedom of speech as a laughable idea; no matter peaceful the protests are--some even being completely silent--the people who participate are always severely punished. Those who are effected by his rules regarding food and money--meaning the lower class--are left to starve. Residents of the other countries are planning something to bring Periculum back to its state of peace. Is it an assassination? A complex plan to bring Barlow down from power? No one knows.

"mayonnaise" | the smashing pumpkins.

this took me longer than i thought it would; i hope the effort pays off.

- - - - - - - -

⇒ name: sofia isabelle andrews.
⇒ pronunciation: soh-fee-uh | ih-zuh-bell | an-droos.
⇒ nickname: sofie.

⇒ age: seventeen.
⇒ d.o.b.: march fifth 1996.
⇒ p.o.b.: surrey, england.

⇒ appearance: carrying a slender figure that towers at five foot ten, sofia always seems to walk with a quiet elegance, disregarding others and staying in her own happy little world. her wide eyes are a piercing green, so much so that she could easily scare one way with a single glare of annoyance. the thin hair that tumbles to the middle of her back has always been a light shade of blonde, but she recently dyed her roots a darker color--on a whim, mind you--and decided that she liked the look. sofia's skin is almost unnaturally pale, accented by pink lips that she wishes were fuller. she's also unhappy about the fact that her nose is straight and not sloped upward at the tip, making her face appear stern instead of cute. as a matter of fact, sofia is unhappy about her looks overall and always has been, believing that no one could find a gangly thing like her to be attractive in any possible way. for now, she supposes, she'll deal with the fact that she looks as she does, trying to keep her face stoic or wear a small smile whenever she's around 'prettier' people.
↪ model: nastya kusakina.

⇒ personality: sofia is considered to be quite strange by most of her classmates; whether it's for good reason or not depends on the person you ask. some call her odd because while she is incredibly kind, she never seems to connect with anyone she meets. some call her weird because she acts rarely shows a true smile, settling for a grin instead. she's shunned by her more shallow peers because she doesn't fit their definition of beautiful and speaks with a quiet, almost sing-songy voice that's tinged with a british accent. sofia is truly a sweet girl, attempting to act happy around most people so they don't get dragged down by her pessimism, but she hasn't made a close friend since the age of eleven. her almost cynical attitude on life keeps her from trusting anyone, whether it be a teacher, a classmate or--for obvious reasons--her own parents. she has a sarcastic sense of humor, almost always succeeding in making those aforementioned shallow classmates look like idiots. sofia leaves some things ambiguous, somehow giving the impression that she's absent-minded when she is actually extremely attentive. she manages to see the ulterior motive in almost everything...or so she thinks. if she were truly able to see every person's true colors, she'd probably have a friend of two, but unfortunately, that isn't the case. is sofia an outcast? no. she's just a bit different from most people.

⇒ family:
↪ mother: bernadette andrews, 37.
↪ father: aaron andrews, 37.

⇒ biography:
↪ why is sofia such a pessimist, you ask? there's an answer to that, but it's kind of long. let's begin with the story of how her parents met.

when the two met at fourteen years old, they both say it was 'love at first sight', but that isn't exactly true. it was more like lust at first sight, actually. but that's not really important.

what is important is what happened after the two slept together during a wild house party one of their friends was throwing in celebration of summer break. somehow, they conceived a baby. a girl, to be specific. you'd think they'd be ecstatic, but they were horrified instead. bernadette--or as she will be called henceforth, bernie--and aaron never intended on having a kid. how would they take care of it? would a small apartment have enough living space for the three of them? why wouldn't bernie's mother just take it instead of leaving /them/ with the burden?

well, her mother told her that since bernie was the one who irresponsibly had unprotected sex with her boyfriend, she'd have to deal with the consequences. bernie was just too stubborn to listen and insisted that the baby should be raised by her grandmother, but her efforts were in vain.

you could say sofia was doomed from the moment she was born; a bastard child of two selfish people who couldn't deal with their whirlwind lives screeching to a halt because of one stupid mistake.

as an infant and toddler, her parents rarely acknowledged her, only doing the things they were taught to do by bernie's mother--changing her diapers, getting the money to buy her clothes and making sure to never feed her baby food with peas since she seemed to be allergic. sofia was never shown the normal gestures of affection from them, but she did always hear them complaining about how hard it was to take care of her, how they'd give her away if it weren't for her grandmother preventing them from doing so. she never really knew what that meant until she grew older; whenever she did anything out of the ordinary, they'd call her 'stupid' and 'worthless', often saying how they both wished that she'd never been conceived, loud enough for sofia to hear.

they became angry at her over the smallest things; aaron was often driven to nearly hitting his daughter, but bernie warned him against it every time he tried. if sofia had a single tiny bruise, a healing black eye, anything that showed the vaguest sign of her being hit, they'd be in serious trouble with the law. her grandmother wouldn't be stupid enough to let that 'slip' after seeing it during one of her weekly visits.

by the time sofia was fourteen, she was an insecure, introverted girl who didn't believe she was of any worth, no matter how much her teachers praised her for being intelligent and 'modest'. her parents would often tell her to get some confidence, but in sofia's opinion, they had no right to. she once asked herself how could they be so hypocritical and oblivious, but decided that she wouldn't waste any time worrying about the answer to that question. in fact, she wouldn't waste time mulling over anything involving her parents anymore. sofia finally realized that they weren't worth her time, just as she didn't seem to be worth of wasting theirs.

but no matter how much she tries to act unfeeling for her own sake, she still feels the effects of her parents' cruel words every day.

↪ bernie and aaron just happened to overhear someone talking about a school called the cardiel institute for the gifted and advanced. they'd been told many times that their daughter was 'gifted' by her teachers, sofia herself seemed interested in going, and the best part about it? it was a boarding school in scotland. naturally, the two enrolled her and told her to pack her bags. sofia was happy to be going somewhere new--and far away from her parents--but she knew that they only wanted to sent her away so they could finally be rid of her for once. does she care? not really. if she did, she'd be acting as hypocritical as they often are.

⇒ talents: her good strategy, high intelligence and artistic skills. she's an incredibly gifted painter, winning a national prize for one of her abstract pieces, but she also dabbles in sketching from time to time. with an IQ of 149, she's considered a genius; it's the main reason why she's considered to be an ideal student at cardiel. sofia was also a prominent member of her school's chess team; she hopes to practice enough so she won't lose some of her tactics.
⇒ flaws: sofia is not a very emotional person, which is why she can be extremely blunt and insensitive to others. as stated beforehand, she has a very hard time trusting people, so while it is easy for charm most, she can't seem to connect with them. she can be quite meek, sometimes wearing a blank face whenever someone degrades her, and she's a follower rather than a leader, which can be a negative in some situations.

⇒ likes: things that are out of the ordinary, dark humor, writing in journals, fruit salads, sarcasm, ray-bans, cute things, fireplaces and mythology.
⇒ dislikes: being around sad people, greasy foods, cheesy black and white films, romance, idealism, extremely energetic people and anything bitter.

⇒ invite clique: élite. i'm setting my hopes too high, i know, but i think she'd be a nice addition to the clique.
⇒ non-invite clique: the code.
⇒ alpha?: ✘

⇒ other: i can't wait to roleplay in this club. it sounds so interesting!
⇒ activeness: eight or nine. if something happens that interrupts my activeness, i'll let you know. i'll try to make at least one post a day.
